This is the outfit that almost didn't happen. We were headed to a wedding last weekend when I asked Anderson to zip me. He tried, then started to pull and pinch and pull a little more. He told me it wasn't going to zip; I told him it would, because I was "Going to wear this outfit ONE more time!" And I did. Who cares that I had to be cut out of it at the end of the night? Ha! Just kidding! We forgot to take pictures, so after the wedding we took these with the "point and shoot" in a parking lot. :)

Skirt and Top: I bought them in Hawaii a few months ago.
Shoes: Steve Madden

If I was a single girl (and about 20 years younger) I think I could've snagged myself a boyfriend after my session with the Mock family. Gabe is one of the sweetest little boys I've ever been around. When we finished our photoshoot, he asked if he could walk me to my car. And he did. Then he wanted to open my door for me. Ahhhh-I could've melted! I asked his mom about the little charmer, and she told me that her hubby is a southern gentleman. So they've tried to instill those values in their son. Mission accomplished! Gabe also has a hilarious little sister, Savannah. She's quite the chatterbox and has a flair for the dramatic, which I love! She didn't feel like having her picture taken at times, but her parents thought ahead and gave me fruit snacks to help "motivate" her. Haha-What a fun family!

Good job, Chris and Tara! You are raising sweet, thoughtful, funny kids. :) I had such a good time with all of you at the zoo!

This year is a little (actually a lot) different for me as far as scheduling goes. I usually spend all of November shooting Christmas sessions but won't be doing that this year. We'll be busy preparing for a very special delivery, and let's face it-no one wants to see me crawling around on the ground with a giant belly anyways! Since I'm cutting out a whole month, the pink coffee photoart calendar is almost full. And I don't want anyone to miss out, so I thought I'd share what I do have available.

The short version: if you want to schedule a shoot do it soon. The long version is below.
August
- One Open Date
- And a possible opening around Grand Rapids, MI at the end of the month. If you want to snag that date send me an email for more details.

September
-Three Open Dates

October
-Two Open Dates
And that's it for 2010! Okay, if someone asks really, really nicely I might take one client in November...might.

Ahhh! It's hard to believe how fast this year is flying by.

Calendar by Red Velvet Art.

Dressing funky or stylish or fun (or whatever you like to call it) while pregnant is starting to be a challenge for me. Not impossible, just harder than normal. When I wake up in the morning I never know if the cute skirt I picked out yesterday is even going to zip today. And if it doesn't fit I change into something else, then realize after a frustrating look in the mirror that I look like a big frump and change yet again. Some days this goes on for a while, and it's NOT FUN! I'm starting to realize why people get the "I give up" mentality and wear track suits every day. Ha! So I've decided to give myself a little challenge over the next few months and try to come up with cute outfits every week and post my favorite here.

Some of you will think I'm nuts; some of you will totally get it. :) It's the little things, people!

So...here's my first Maternity Outfit of the Week:

Skirt: Target. I bought it new-with-tags from the thrift store the other day. Score! It's not maternity, but I sized up.
T-shirt: Ann Taylor.
I met up with the Surrency/Nash clan during their annual family vacation on Amelia Island. What fun people! Their dynamics reminded me a lot of my own family. Of course the entire shoot revolved around the littlest member of the group, Allison...and she did not disappoint. :)

What a fun day! Anderson still hasn't stopped smiling. :) Everyone in the doctor's office was laughing at him, because he was SO excited.

.

Anderson made the video...it made me cry. :) I prayed the baby would wave at us (cheesy, I know), but he did!

Let the shopping commence!
*Disclaimer* I completely stole this idea from Tara Whitney. She's a genius and my absolute favorite photographer, so I don't feel bad about it. :)

I have such fun clients and always get excited when I see how they display their prints in their homes. Some of them are really creative! So I thought it would be fun for everyone else to see...a happy little dose of inspiration and ideas.

The first clients I'm featuring are Candice and Dustin. Enjoy!

They ordered my Cappuccino Package, which includes lots of prints. Perfect for a collage! I like how Candice mixed black and white frames to make her display. It gives the wall a whimsical, less structured feel.

Want your house featured? Pregnancy really has been rather uneventful for me so far. No sickness or fatigue (or any other weird stuff). Thank you, Jesus!
I feel so good. Keeping up with running seems to be helping a lot. I still hate doing it but always feel great afterwards. I've started going late in the evenings to avoid the crazy heat, but I'm pretty sure I sound like a water buffalo breathing no matter when I do it. :) Last night it rained on me the whole time, and it was great!

We're starting to get excited. Up to this point it hasn't felt "real". People told me I would cry when I had my first ultrasound. Are you kidding me? Cry out of disappointment maybe. I couldn't see anything! And even when they printed off the picture I couldn't make out a shape of any kind. Ha! But now that I look a little more than bloated, it's finally starting to sink in. And we find out very soon if I'm growing a boy or a girl. Of course we have no clue, but every time I picture the baby I see a boy. Weird!

Now that I'm starting to get a belly, I'm receiving fun little tidbits of unsolicited advice. "Honey, you really shouldn't wear those tall shoes while you're pregnant." "Don't you dare paint the baby's room. The fumes are toxic." Toxic fumes? Do people not clean their houses for 9 months?! "Wait until that baby is born. You will finally experience true love." Okay, I know what they're trying to say, but that's just sad. Sad! "Lunch meat carries bacteria. Don't eat it." Well, I'll just pray extra hard over my turkey sandwich before I eat it in a minute. And oh the looks from other women when I'm carrying a Starbucks cup. Whatever, ladies! I think it's more important for the baby's well being that I don't kill Anderson.

I'm so thankful for my Mom. She's been really helpful for us. I was almost in tears about trying to clean out closets to make room for baby stuff, (if you saw my closets you'd cry too) and she just came over and did it. I sat on the floor and told her where to put things. Pathetic, I know. But I'm pretty sure she knew I was teetering on the edge of a breakdown, and she just jumped in and did what needed to be done. She's going to be such a good Grandma!

The old wives tales are really cracking me up too! I eat A LOT of spicy food; so naturally, I'm also eating a lot of Tums lately. But anytime I mention heartburn, someone knows why I have it.

"Your baby is going to have lots of hair."
"You're having a boy".
"Your baby is going to have red hair."

I had to stop that last lady right in her tracks and ask her if she's ever seen my husband. If we have a redheaded baby I'll have a little explaining to do. I do think the first one might be right though. I'm pretty sure this kid is going to have an afro. I've seen Anderson's baby pictures!

I think God's trying to teach me to be kind and graceful when responding to all the pregnancy experts out there. So far I haven't snapped at anyone or told them just how ridiculous I think they are. :)

Anderson says I haven't had any mood swings...yet.

I loved working with Harlee again this year. This time we met up for a senior photo session. She brought her mom along for laughs and "protection" (there's always a lot of excitement/drama when you shoot in the Jax Beach area) and several cute outfits to wear. In fact she changed 4 times in less than an hour.
I introduced Anderson to Sierra Grille right after we started dating. It quickly became one of our favorite lunch spots. I like to order the Hawaiian platter (but always accidently call it the Aloha platter). Oops! Thankully everyone who works there knows us and interprets my made-up menu items! Anderson pretty much eats anything on the menu...as long as it includes steak.

I have to admit that as much as I like Sierra Grille, my enjoyment is really more about sharing our little Saturday routine. Sometimes I almost even get tired of the food (only because we eat SO MUCH Mexican food), but I never get tired of spending the afternoon with my hubby. And Anderson loves the place, so we keep going back. And we'll continue to; at least for the next few months. The man has promised to make up rap songs while I'm in labor. So I'll eat anywhere he wants to go!

This was the session that almost didn't happen. As I was driving to Fernandina to meet this excited, expectant couple it started raining. And the closer I got to our meeting spot, the harder it rained. I called Whitney and she sounded upset, but she told me her hubby was watching the radar and thought the rain was moving away fast. So I kept driving towards the black clouds in front of me. It wasn't looking good, and I was feeling bad for Whitney. Doesn't the weather know not to mess with a very pregnant woman?! Then just as I arrived at our spot it stopped raining...completely stopped! Florida weather is so weird, but on this day I was very thankful for it. :)

Whitney and Jeff are getting ready to welcome their first child into their home; a sweet little baby boy. It was fun capturing this couples' excitement and hearing all about their plans for their growing family. They even brought their firstborn, Bailey, along for the ride...

Congrats to the parents-to-be!!!
And happy weekend to everyone else-whoo hoo!

We have one piece of furniture that I really hate. I guess in the big scheme of things, one is not too bad. The problem is the size and location of this piece. It's a huge black box and is prominently displayed in our living room. In fact, I think I could go as far as referring to it as the focal point of our home. And I can't just get rid of it, because it's the only thing that Anderson picked out. And even though it's old and we could probably go out and get a nice sleek one, he loves the big black box. So my project this month was an attempt to make the area around it look a little more cheerful.

Before-How many boxes do we really need on top of the tv?
After-I gathered some fun, random pieces and tried to stay with a candy-colored theme!

This was another easy project, but it brightened the room up a lot!

A few details (left to right):
The big frame once held a hideous family portrait that hung in my Grandma's dining room. I painted it sea foam green and hung E - 2008 (for "Established 2008") in it. A modern take on the signs we've all seen in people's homes over the years. I used a wooden letter and numbers and covered them in magazine clippings with Modge Podge.

Below that is a framed vintage camera manual.

To the right is a framed "A" and a ceramic cow head from the thrift store.

The pink metal square is from Hobby Lobby, but it was a yucky rust color. I sprayed it cotton candy pink and attached a deer head cut out of scrapbook paper. (This is the picture I used in case you wan to make your own!)

I found the pink cuckoo clock on eBay and painted the canvas under it a long time ago!
